Iron Ductile Band Heaters

The Glenn Iron Band Heater is a new patented design having many advantages over previous cast-in heaters. When a heating element of a cast-in heater burns out, the entire casting must be thrown away. A burnt out element in the Ductile Iron Band heater can be easily replaced, resulting in large savings to the user. Cast-in heaters are many times heavier and more awkward to handle than the Ductile Iron Band heaters.

With aluminum, surface temperatures must be limited to 650 degrees F. The Ductile Iron Band heater can develop surface temperatures of 1,100 degrees F and higher. At these higher temperature ranges the heat conforms to the surface being heated and provides an even better heat transfer. The Ductile Iron Band heater operates at a higher watt density input that comparable heaters with aluminum bodies.

The Ductile Iron Band heaters are adaptable to provide both heating and cooling functions with the addition of coling tubles placed in proximity to the heating tubes.
Installation of these bands is simply accomplished by opening the band, placing it around the cylinder and tightening a single screw.

The Glenn Ductilre Iron Band heaters are designed for use in barrel heating of extrusion and injection molding machinery, blown film dies, and other cylindrical surfaces.
